Tony Trudgett

Originally from Oberon, signed with St George in 1978 after playing with Thirroul and Corrimal in the Illawarra competition. Debuted in first grade as a centre in round 9 of 1978, moved to five-eighth for his fourth appearance and remained in that position there until the end of 1983. He missed just three first-grade games in this time — all in 1980 when he carried a knee injury; he played every game in 1979, 1981, 1982 and 1983 — and always wore the No. 6 jumper except for nine games in the centres (one in 1981, eight in 1982) and a brief spell in the forwards during his final season, when he played four games at lock and two in the second row. Played in the 1979 Grand Final and in finals matches in 1980 and 1983. Played for NSW against Great Britain in 1979, for NSW against Queensland a year later, and for Country Firsts in 1984, when he was captain-coach at Yenda
