Played some superb football in five seasons at St George, especially in 1941 when he was five-eighth in Saints’ first premiership side and formed an irresistible partnership with the equally diminutive Alby McAndrew, but injuries and war service meant he appeared in a total of just 23 first-grade games for the club. Scored two tries in Saints’ 31–14 win over Easts in the 1941 premiership final
