Wyong junior who played for Western Suburbs from 1964 to 1971 before joining St George in search of a premiership. Played 100 first-grade games for the club in six seasons, despite having competition for a centre position from players such as Ted Goodwin, Gary Pethybridge and Robert Finch. He became the first man to play 100 first-grade games for two clubs. Arguably St George’s best player in the 1975 Grand Final. When moved to the wing in 1976, come critics wondered if he was too slow for that position. ‘Just try to stop Roy when he sets sail for the corner,’ said coach Graeme Langlands
