After claiming two consecutive premierships with Canterbury and winning the Dally M fullback and player of the year trophies as a 20-year-old, injuries derailed his career until he joined St George in 1989. Was Dally M fullback of the year in 1991 and 1992, player of the year in 1991, and captain of the year in 1993. Played in the Country Origin team in 1990, 1991 and 1992, and in successive Grand Finals with Saints in 1992 and 1993, leading the side in the latter year
