Played for Corrimal in the Illawarra competition and Country Seconds in 1975 before signing for St George in 1976. Made a huge impression in his first season, when he played 15 games in first grade and Big League described him as ‘a young giant who seemingly can’t miss developing into a champion second rower’. The following year, with Rod Reddy and Robert Stone, formed a mighty back row as Saints won their first premiership since 1966. He scored the first try in the Grand Final replay. Didn’t miss a game in 1978, but injuries then stifled his career, and he played only 30 first-grade games in the next four seasons. In 1983, enjoyed a ‘last hurrah’, coming into the side as prop and captain after injuries to Craig Young, Rod Reddy, Graham Quinn and Steve Rogers, and leading the team to seven straight wins and a semi-finals berth.

Played a total of 111 games for St George
