An Australian football convert who was called up to make his first-grade debut in the 1927 premiership final against South Sydney, replacing the suspended Frank Meighan. He became a fixture at the back for the red and whites from 1929 to 1932. McCormack was in contention for Test honours in the 1932 Ashes series but shattered his collarbone against Norths at Earl Park at the start of that season and never played top-level rugby league again
