Had a profound influence in 1946, his one season as captain coach at St George. A year earlier, Saints’ first-grade team won just four matches, and the start to the new season brought just one victory from three games. But Narvo gradually turned things around, and the Dragons won 10 of their last 11 home-and-away games, to claim their first clear-cut first-grade minor premiership. However, they lost the semi-final and grand final (controversially, 13–12) to Balmain. For 1947, he accepted a big offer to coach at Cootamundra, where he also ran a local pub, and then he coached with success at Camden and North Newcastle, playing briefly with Newtown in between

Played a total of 13 games for St George
