Helensburgh product who played lock for St George in the 1949 grand final. Came to Saints late in 1947, after regular lock Walter Mussing was injured, and played two first-grade games at the end of the season, and then went so well after he was selected in first-grade for the opening game of 1948 that he was chosen as a reserve for City Seconds. Badly sprained his wrist early in the semi-final against Souths in ’49 (there were rumours it was broken) but recovered sufficiently to perform strongly on grand final day. Missed the entire 1951 season because of a work injury, and then returned to the Illawarra after playing seven games in 1952

Played a total of 60 games for St George
