After starring on Great Britains triumphant tours of Australia in 1958 and 1962, came to St George in 1964 after Saints paid St Helens a £12,500 transfer fee. Missed the 1964 Grand Final with an injured knee, played mostly reserves in 1965, but was a star of the 1966 premiership decider against Balmain, scoring a memorable try when he ran 30 metres after Ian Walsh had put him through. Became the first British Test player to be part of a Grand Final-winning side. Played two more season before becoming captain-coach at Dubbo
